History

HUBZone stands for Historically Underutilized Business Zone.

  • HUBZone Headquarters, Inc. (HUBZone HQ) is a small business, US government contracting firm founded in 2012 to help meet the growing demand for HUBZone subcontractors in the government services marketplace. HUBZone stands for Historically Underutilized Business Zone.

The SBA established the HUBZone Empowerment Contracting Program in 1998 to help small businesses in urban and rural communities gain preferential access to federal procurement opportunities. These preferences go to small businesses that obtain HUBZone certification in part by employing staff who live in a HUBZone.

The company must also maintain a “principal office” in one of these specially designated areas.
